Installation error with message "device (device number)" not found

I am following the simple tutorial from https://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/running-app.html and it seems pretty silly that I come first (running the app on my Google Pixel) and I keep getting error messages like this:

"Installation error with device message" FA68J0300060 "not found. This issue may have been fixed by uninstalling the existing apk version if present and then reinstalling it.

WARNING: Deleting will delete application data!

Do you want to remove an existing application?

I tried to see if an existing version exists, but it doesn't show up, and any troubleshooting I've already done turned out to be ineffective.
