Could not connect to Integration Services at "srvrname": "The specified service does not exist as an installed service."

I have a clean install of SQL Server 2016 Enterprise Edition SP1 on the new Win Server 2012R2 Standard Edition. All features have been added, and for some reason I am unable to log into SSIS installed using SSMS. SSMS is also a standalone installation (latest ssms version 16.5.3). I can't see that the SSIS server is installed, although I can clearly start and stop it using the config manager. Some said they were running ssms as administrator and that didn't help. Your help is appreciated. See Pictures for details.enter image description here

This is documented as a defect, but it is not. Use SSMS 16.x for SQL 2016 and for SQL 2017 use SSMS 17.x. Also note that 16.x will not work with SQL 2014 as it is by design. Setting up and using SSISDB is what Microsoft wants; find the notes in the box at the link provided .

This information was obtained from our Microsoft SQL representative, although it is published as well . Click here to download 16.5.3 from Microsoft.

SSIS is not used in SQL 2016

This is a deprecated service only needed in a very specific case - if you have older versions of packages that you haven't updated that you need to keep in MSDB.

It is replaced by the SSISDB and SSIS directory

Why do you think you need to connect to it?
