Facebook Graph publishes posts with link and custom image not working on v2.9

I remember when I was using Graph v2.8 I could set a custom picture and caption for the link. This is now not possible for v2.9. Is there some workaround without specifying og: tags.

Unfortunately, there is currently NO commonly known solution.

According to facebook developer blog:

As part of our ongoing efforts to curb the spread of misinformation and false news on our platform, earlier this year at F8 we announced a major change to our Graph APIs: The Graph API version 2.9 includes a 90-day waiver of being able to edit previews attached to link messages.

This feature works for API version <2.9 before July 17, 2017.
