Is it possible that an iOS app with incorrect IDFA information passes App Store validation?

I released an iOS app for the App Store with an integrated Facebook SDK.

While submitting, iTunes Connect asked me about IDFA:

Does this app use an advertising identifier (IDFA)?

and I checked "No."

It has successfully passed the App Store verification. There were no problems.

And after the presentation, I found several links that said that in my case, "Yes" should have been selected for the question:

My app does not serve ads, but it records app installs and some events.

For example, it contains codes such as:

FBSDKAppEvents.activateApp()
FBSDKAppEvents.logEvent("Some events")

It now seems quite obvious that my application is using IDFA and this was the error that I selected "No".

But the only thing that confuses me is that my application passed validation without any rejection.

Is it possible that an iOS app with incorrect IDFA information passes App Store validation?

In my opinion, if Apple verifies IDFA information by a person, I think it is possible, and my first presentation was just happy.

But if it has been verified by the machine, then my answer ("No") was right and I'm going to choose "No" again.

Is there anyone with similar experiences?

Finally, I tried it and got the answer.

I submitted a new version of my app with a "Yes" check to the IDFA question and submitted a review.

There were no changes related to the FBSDK. That is, from the perspective of IDFA, these binaries can be considered the same.

So the conclusion:

  • An iOS app with incorrect IDFA information may submit an App Store review (perhaps an Apple bug?)
  • The fact that your application passed validation without rejection does not guarantee that you provided the correct IDFA information. Don't believe history and always choose the correct answer during this time.
