Gitkraken white screen cannot be used

I had the same problem, I could open a new new repository, but my normal gitkraken crashed just the same.
I solved this by guessing that it was displaying all branches messed up and accidentally finding the cause: Under "Preferences-> User Interface Settings" uncheck "Show icon icon in toolbar" and try again.
