Wkhtmltopdf shrinks to page width

I am using wkhtmltopdf version 0.12.1 (I'm on debian-jessie and this is the version I get with apt-get - I can't install anything that I don't get from apt-get).

I have a web page that looks like this:

enter image description here And when converting to PDF, it looks like this:

enter image description here I want the layout to be the same in PDF. I've tried many, many, many different combinations of options using -page-width and -zoom with a number <1, but nothing makes 2 tables and an image on the same line.

Does anyone know how I can get the HTML to shrink to fit the width of the page?
