Piston git support?

I found that piston seems to be a decent tool for managing rails plugins, but when I try to do a piston conversion for my project with git based plugins, it just goes blank completely and seems to be trying to find the .svn using svn tools.

I'm on piston 1.4.0, is this something that git supports natively or will I have to build from an edge?

I am using piston 1.9.x for this very reason - since 1.9, it supports Git imports .
