Is there a way to save or edit Crystal reports in version 8.5 format in Visual Studio 2008?

I have a crystal report file in which I need to make a small change. It was created in / for Crystal Reports 8.5.

I can open it in Visual Studio 2008, but when I save the file, the version of the file is updated and the report fails with the third-party software that reads it (Actinic).

I am not very good at Crystal reports. Is there a way to edit the file without breaking it?

You will need a copy of Crystal 8.5. Later versions do not support backward compatibility.
