Where is the Groovy / Grails support in NetBeans?

After hearing a lot about Grails support in NetBeans and disappointment in the absence of eclipse, I decided to give it a try, but now the support doesn't seem to exist:

  • I downloaded a package containing NetBeans 6.7 along with the latest Java 5 JDK from Sun
  • The About field says: NetBeans IDE 6.7 (Build 200906241340)
  • But the "Groovy" category does not exist in the New Project wizard described here .
  • The NetBeans Help docs have a section called "Enabling a Java Application to Support Groovy"
  • He mentions the Groovy category in the project properties, which, again, doesn't exist

So what's wrong here? Is this a stripped down version of NetBeans? Can I update it?

Download any version of Netbeans 6.7 and Groovy / Grails is either included or easily installed from the Tools-> Plugin menu. The table on the page shows what is included in each download package.

If Groovy / Grails does not appear in the Installed tab , you can install it from the Available Plugins tab . There is a Search box where you can enter Groovy to find the plugin. Note that the Show details checkbox will display more plugins in the Installed tab .

Also note that one of the benefits of getting a smaller Netbeans build is that it starts faster. Your best bet is to start with the smallest download and add the plugins you need.
