Cloudfront dist per top-level domain

Can I specify a top-level domain like http://example.com for amazon cloud cloud distribution?

I know this is possible with CNAME, but as far as I know, I need to set the A-name record for the top-level domain in the DNS settings.

Q. Can I point my zone top (example.com and www.example.com) to my Amazon CloudFront distribution?

Yes. Amazon Route 53 offers a special record type called "Alias record" that allows you to map your zone name (example.com) DNS to your Amazon CloudFront distribution (for example, d123.cloudfront.net). The IP addresses associated with Amazon CloudFront endpoints vary based on the location of your end users (to guide the end user to the closest CloudFront edge location) and are subject to change at any time due to software increases, decreases, or updates. Route 53 responds to each request to record aliases with IP address (s) for distribution. Route 53 does not charge for alias record requests that map to the CloudFront distribution. These requests are listed as "Intra-AWS-DNS Requests"For more information, see the Amazon Route 53 Usage Report.

I understand that you cannot create an A record for Cloudfront.

Amazon provides you with a domain name like YourName.cloudfront.net. They need to manage DNS resolution for that domain name behind the scenes to route every request to the nearest edge server.

if you add alias in cloudfront then choose A or AAAA (ipv6 if enabled on cloud)
