Mysql for installing Snow Leopard

I am trying to install the mysql gem with a fresh install of Snow Leopard.

I got mysql 5.1 x86 installed from mysql site and tried to install mysql gem using this command.

sudo gem install mysql - --with-mysql-config = / usr / local / mysql / bin / mysql_config

no love.
