Disable / hide script manager

I use scriptmanager on a mobile site, but due to the huge amount of data pages coming from a couple of script sources, it loads older phones more slowly. I have a class where I subtract phone capabilities and set a landing page. I have to remove references to ScriptResource.axd or some other Ajax method to send data with partial update.

I tried Controls.Remove .... but it didn't work
