Website transfer
I have made some changes to the site and you need to reinstall it as the current host ceases to exist. My client got the following from the current host:
“Your best bet is to tell them that because we are completely abandoning our service, we would like to share the entire website address for them, rather than just 'point' them to a web address. If you can forward this email mail them and ask them to confirm your "IPS tag" (they will know what it is), I can arrange to send it when and when they confirm that everything is ready to go. "
Can anyone help me here as I'm not too sure what they mean and don't know what an IPS tag is?

IPSTAG is .uk only a designation of a domain registrar. basically, the web host asks you to transfer the domain name registration from them to a new provider.
I suggest you (or your client) find a new registrar, get your IPSTAG, and then send it to the old host, who can then initiate the change.
after updating the IPSTAG (you can check the WHOIS information for this) then your new registrar will be able to get the domain name (and thus the old host will relinquish "control" of it)

Check the link for the IPS tag. This is essentially the ID of the domain registration agent. Quote:
TAG IPS enables Nominet to administer the use of their automated domain name registrations and related services. IPS-TAG is a unique sequence of letters and / or numbers. You should be able to tell Nominet your registration agent tag to be able to change their registration agent.
