Can I change the default layout ruler guides in FlexBuilder 3?

I'm using FlexBuilder 3. I like how the layout hints tell you when the component you are placing on the canvas is that far from the next component (presumably 8 pixels). Can I change the distance the ruler tooltip appears? I am placing a number of shortcuts side by side and would like to change that to say 4 pixels.

I can wire the components manually, but it is time consuming and prone to human error.

As far as I know, this is not possible. You can enable / disable snapping to rulers, but there is no indication to specify the spacing.
