Why is Packetyzer not displaying the adapter?

I am trying to open a new capture window to monitor inbound / outbound traffic on a machine. But the Adapters do not have a network card, for example, the machine does not have one. The machine is connected to Lan and can be pinged and can ping. The firewall is off. What could be Packetyzer blocking?
