Is there a way to prevent UpdatePanelAnimationExtender from executing when the associated updated panel is not updated (i.e. set to conditional updates)?
Sorry, this is a known bug in the control. As of this post, it is still unpatched and there is no known workaround. So the answer is no, you cannot prevent it.
