On Ubuntu do the boots require Ruby1.8 or Ruby1.9?

I just installed Ruby1.9 on my machine. Have some problem with the programs I am trying to write using Shoes. I wonder if this is a version issue.

I am trying to do something over ssl.

The shoe comes with its own Ruby version embedded in a downloadable script. As far as I can tell, it is completely self-contained.

I don't know what "Shoes" is, but I found this: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shoes

according to this "shoe (0.r396-5)" Depends on "rubygems1.8"
