Will the popularity of Flash be the popularity of AIR?

[This is a community Wiki, so don't discuss it if it sounds like a poll question. It.]

Will Adobe be able to translate their success into Flash Penetration (although this is also questionable, see my post here ) into Adobe AIR? Is Adobe AIR the "next big thing" on the desktop platform, just another player (along with something else?), Or will it die a silent and inconsequential death?

Unfortunately not until they figure out at least the following problem:

When you visit a site that requires Flash and you don't have Flash installed, you get a standard view popup asking you whether to install it and mention in the notes that it might be safe to install an unreliable plugin.

When you visit a site that allows you to download an AIR application, it issues big, red, screaming warnings about the imminent crash of your computer, theft of your identity, and a life of torment [1]. Unless, of course, all the programmers in the bedroom decide what the current cost of certification is.

FAIL user support. Hobby developer encouraging FAIL. Elimination of Terrorist Terrorism FAIL.

I like AIR, but I don't know what they thought with the installer. Has the label office approached the developers at headquarters or something else?

The simple answer is NO

It is not fair to compare the success of a web browser to a desktop computer or the obvious reasons.

Flash developers have already used flash to develop desktop applications and now have a better structure. It will be used by so many people, but I will never be that popular.

I think AIR will be around for a long time, it is great for web developers looking for desktop versions of web applications.

I doubt it will ever reach popularity, the masses need flash to watch their funny YouTube videos, but they would never think of getting AIR to use TweetDeck. The desktop applications they use are already installed on their machine.

If AIR has improved the inclusion of HTML content, it will be very successful. If the ability to render HTML content has not been improved, then my humble opinion is that it will be mixed.

Not.
The competition in the desktop application market is much greater, and users are increasing functionality and performance from desktop applications than from web applications, and AIR simply lacks performance and desktop.
