Does anyone know of open source flash games

I am thinking about developing a small flash game. I considered different options. One of them obviously involves working with some open source projects. Does anyone of you know an open source flash game? Something like shooting. Can you even really expect this?

thank

I don't know of open source flash games that you can contribute to, but you should consider one using the fantastic flixel API made by Adam Atomic for you to learn how to use it.

If you do some internet search you can find some basic flash games like asteroids with tutorials and source code.

Generally speaking, you won't find many serious APIs or game engines floating around for Flash, as Flash programming tends to be pretty locked down with visual design.

On the other hand, something like Alterniva3D could be called a game engine as it has the basic principles of gravity and keyboard movement built into it ... but 3D programming in Flash is a pretty advanced topic.

If you've decided to use Flixel (and you really should), there are a number of source-code games available for you to read.

Good luck.

Try Madness Interactive, it's open source with a lot of stuff. It could be a big game, but there would be a lot to learn and much easier than you think, just analyze the easy parts. This shooter is really amazing.
