Really strange behavior in IE 8 Beta 2

PLEASE DO NOT CLOSE - THIS IS A PROGRAMMING (BUT NO CODE INCLUDED)

I am developing MOSS sites and I need to make sure my sites are compatible with IE 7.8 and FireFox.

I have an external testing site (Windows 2003, IIS 6) and when I browse this MOSS site I can authenticate with IE8 without any problem.

When I browse my local installation of MOSS (Windows 2008 Server, IIS 7), I cannot authenticate, instead it asks for username + password and then 3 tries a blank page.

Any idea why this is so? I am currently unable to test my MOSS installation locally with IE 8 because of this, and Microsoft does not support beta products.

You should try network sniffing to see exactly what is happening on the cable. WireShark is pretty good.

Try using Fiddler to see what IIS status code is returning to you.
