What do I need to develop a game for XBOX 360

I will be developing a game using XNA Studio. The game will not be commercial, it is just a free game that people can download from the Internet. if the game is free, will i have to pay money?

Well, I suggest you take a look at XNA Express using C #. You will need to pay $ 99AUD (don't know the price of USD) to access the download of the game on your Xbox. However, you cannot sell it at all, I believe you can supply the source so that other XNA peepz can play your game.

If you want to create a real arcade game, you need a real SDK that costs a little money and comes with powermac: D pre-installed on the tier.

EDIT:

I stand nicely getting better @JohnRudy. It looks like Microsoft has decided that people may want to be compensated, or at least for a while, from playing arcade games. I'm glad they removed the draconian restrictions on arcade play.

So the bottom line: for the Xbox 360, no, you cannot create a free game that is distributed via XBL. You can free the source and others can download and run it on the Xbox, but it will cost you and the end user alike, as you'll need a Creators Club membership.

For PC, although you are free to develop and redistribute as you wish.
