AX 2009 dynamics report: LabelPosition above doesn't work?

I am just changing the SalesInvoice report. One thing I'm trying to do is show the label of some elements that are not left over from the element value, but above it.

Seems simple enough: just change the LabelPosition parameter (from CustInvoiceJour_InvoiceId for example) from "left" to "above" and voila: the label is gone. It just isn't shown anywhere.
Strange. I would expect the label to appear, well, above the content. Don't fade away.

Am I missing something (label height not set) or is this feature not working?

I'm not sure if this function is broken. But in the generated design, these elements will not display the label if set above:

  • Prolog
  • PageHeader
  • Heading
  • Footer
  • Epilogue
  • ProgrammableSection


If the element you are trying to change is in one of them, then the position of the label above does not work in my experience.

My advice is to create a new text type control, then use the same shortcut as the extended datatype for the field used as the "text" property, and then adjust the position so that it sits above the field, re tries install a shortcut.

From what I noticed for the ProgrammableSection, the column title labels do not appear only on the first page of the report. The labels are shown on the following pages.
