It usually just puts multi-line content in a single ruler box and adds slightly smaller than normal tabs between text, where line breaks are common.

I believe your only option is to select Results to Text instead of Results to Grid. Even then, newlines will wrap to the beginning of the entire data line, so this won't be a big improvement.
