Login failed for sa when i didn't change password

I am developing a winforms application tied to sql server. I haven't rebooted in a while. I rebooted today and now I cannot log into sql. I've used every account I know and their passwords, including the one that worked just before I rebooted and I got "Login failed". I was using a database that I am using offline before starting and I have backups before that.

thoughts about what happened? Is there a way to get the database back online or somehow find out what the passwords are? I've even tried using Windows Authentication with me as administrator on the AND sa (Yes, bad) box and still not a dice.

: - / This is a rude place ... I wish you the best of luck. Check this blog post, not sure if you are using sql 2k5 or not, but if so this might be helpful:

Have you checked if the service is actually running? Also are you trying to connect using IPC, TCPIP, or named pipes? Whichever way it is included in the configuration tools.

Since the admin in the block are SQL admins, the only thing I can think of is that the service is not running.
