Outlook 2007 requires a password over HTTP. (Exchange 2007)

I have Exchange 2007 configured with ActiveSync and RPC over HTTP.

Here's what works:

  • Outlook on the network.
  • Mobile devices.
  • Outlook Web Access.

The only thing that doesn't work:

  • Offline appearance.

Whenever someone is offline trying to access email through Outlook, they are constantly prompted for their username and password. The machine can reach the network via HTTP, so the firewall configuration appears to have been fixed. The machine also has the correct root certificate.

I'm not sure what's going on here. Any advice would be well appreciated.

Thank!

I think this was intended behavior. Out of the network, you are no longer in the domain, so the connection requires authentication when you open Outlook to connect to the correct mail store.

Are you using firefox?

in firefox go to url: "about: config" page

then find the key "network.ntlm.send-lm-response" and set it to true

It may not help, but sometimes my school proxy will prompt me for passwords, for example, dozens of times in a few seconds, and this key automatically solves this problem.
