How to launch iPhone app once even if user doesn't open app?

Unfortunately, the short answer is no.



You can use the Push Notification Service to display a warning to the user. But they still have to click on it to launch the application.

I believe there is a way if you jailbreak your phone.

Moreover, the latest OS has push notification.

In general, third party apps don't run in the background. There have been rumors that Apple might be able to sort it out a bit, at least in certain applications.
