Kohonen SOM Maps in R Tutorial

I'm just looking for a good tutorial to teach me how to create a SOM in R. I'm reading Kohonen and Kaski's article on using maps to determine the structure of wealth and want to try the technique myself.

I think many of the examples in R have a lot to be desired. I looked online and didn't find anything that I think made the process easier.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the SOM related packages are in the area of ​​chemometrics and computational physics , but you're also looking at the cluster view on CRAN .

Edit: By the way, I don't know of any tutorials, but one good way to find examples is on google with ext: d . There are several "som" scripts that display this way, including this example that shows how to use it with GGobi .
