IE Conditionals stopped working unexpectedly after updating Windows XP Security
In fact, things are bizarre here. I have installed some security updates for XP ... then I fire up my text editor to do some encoding and realize that my IE conventions no longer work. Anyone have any suggestions for me? I've gotten to this while the cows get home. I tried to uninstall the updates, but Windoze keeps reinstalling them.

Are you using the standalone version of IE 6, 7 and / or 8 along with the native version? The native installed version is the version that conditional comments work with.
For example, if you have IE 8 installed via a software update, standalone IE 7 and IE 6 will only do anything in IE 8 conditional comments.
