BST logic error ... incorrect results

I made this code using Mark Gravell in

Why can't I find _left and _right in BinarySearchTree?
& Amp;
How to fix implicit conversion error in BST C # code?

its a binary search tree, but now I have a boolean error. The results that come up are wrong, the output of my code is as follows:

2
3
5
6
10
17
------------------------------------------------
17
2
------------------------------------------------
3
6
Press any key to continue . . .

the last two numbers should give a total of 6 items inserted, but its display is 9

but the way How can I get the height of the tree ?!

If you mean in CountNodes

, all non-leaf nodes need to be counted, you should change this line:

int count=1;

to read the following:

int count = (root._left == null && root._right == null) ? 0 : 1;

(the opposite of what is in CountLeaves

).

And this will give you the height of the tree:

public int Height(TreeNode root)
{
    int height = 1;
    if (root._left != null)
        height = Math.Max(height, Height(root._left));
    if (root._right != null)
        height = Math.Max(height, Height(root._right));
    return height;
}

As for getting the height of the tree, use the following recursive pseudocode that calls nodeHeight(root)

:

nodeHeight(node)
    left=0
    right=0

    if (node == null) return 0

    left = 1 + nodeHeight(getLeft(node))
    right = 1 + nodeHeight(getRight(node))

    return max(left,right)

It doesn't look like you are balancing your tree, so you just end up with a simple linked list that might account for your wrong values. A properly balanced tree will have a maximum height of log2 (n).
