The Alibre Design file format

Has anyone tried to read the Alibre Design CAD program file ? I see that there is a STEP / ISO 10303-21 structure inside the part file (* .AD_PRT), but I'm wondering, the rest of the file. Is it patented?

Alibre's product manager told me (via email) that there is currently no "open" specification for AD_PRT files (and it looks like the format changes quite often)

I expect the rest of the file to be proprietary. But if you want geometry, then a STEP file stream is probably enough.
