Good literature on 4GL Progress

I am looking for good literature to learn Progress 4GL. This is a workspace related project and funding for the training is not available. I've tried the documentation, but it's imprecise and rather chaotic.

I will most need to work in ChUI on OE 10.1B.

I know of several books that are available at lulu.com. Which ones are really good?

Take a look at QUE books. They had a book written for Version 8. It's out of print, but maybe someone has it.

For "cookbook" responses, you should probably head over to one of the progress-oriented online forums. The "official" site is http://communities.progress.com/pcom/index.jspa , but the traffic on general programming topics is pretty straightforward and there is little to no involvement from the PSC itself. http://www.peg.com/lists/ is much more active. There is also http://progresstalk.com .

If you are working in a symbolic environment, older books are probably the most appropriate. Newer documentation will focus on the GUI environment and probably won't suit your needs. The environment of the character has not changed, and therefore the old material is still good,

Making Good Progress are volumes, but it was released when the GUI was new and there were still a lot of characters:

Of course, if you are working in a symbology environment, you are also probably working in a specific environment of application partners, and they will have their own frameworks and coding conventions that you will also need. This kind of thing should come from the partner.

Having worked in this language for several years now, I recommend the documentation. Progress publishes a series of roughly 30 books that document their language, and that cover most topics in (usually) good depth. I never needed a third book with readily available progress documents.
