Validating Data Model Change Reports

I am working on a SharePoint application where data is stored in lists. To simplify reporting, we create views in SQL Server 2005 that combine lists of links, and our Reporting Services model is based on these views.

When users add / modify / remove fields, our views become obsolete. When we recreate views, some reports are no longer valid. What is the best way to allow users to change fields and automatically update existing reports (or notify the administrator that a report has been broken by changing a field)?

Have you thought about presenting reports directly from lists, perhaps using a product such as http://www.enesyssoftware.com/ , which is an extension of the reporting service data. It won't help when your reports are out of date, when your users add / remove a column.
