I wanted some feedback on the issues we might face if we break down Sharepoint 2007 on Windows 2008 instead of Windows 2003.

Windows SharePoint Services 3 is supported perfectly in Windows 2008. You need to make sure you are using SP1 .

To save time, there are two main decision points:

  • Create your own streaming installation of SharePoint with the latest Service Pack (SP3 for now), and then install it directly on Windows Server 2008 R2.
