Reporting Services - Working with the Same Reports in Different Databases

I have a Reporting Services project that has multiple reports in the report folder and a Live, Test and Dev data source in the Shared Data Source folder.

I have set deployment solutions configurations to different folders on the server based on configuration (e.g. debug -> dev).

My problem is that I need reports in the dev folder on the server to use the dev data source, test reports to use the test data source, and live reports to use the real time data source.

What's the best approach?

Place data sources in different folders.



You can customize the RS project data source folder as well as the RDL so that you can keep the same name for the data source.

I would recommend creating a reporting site for each environment with the same folder structure and using data sources with the same name in all three locations pointing to the appropriate database.
