Installing MS Web Deploy 3.0 - Failed to start WMService

I have a dedicated server and I am trying to install MS Web Deploy 3 using an administrator-managed web platform installer.

Unable to install with message:

We're sorry. The following products have failed to install.
**Web Deploy 3.0 - July 2012**
This product did not install successfully: Service 'Web Management Service' (WMSvc)
failed to start.  
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

I tried to run the installer using "Run as administrator" but this error comes up every time. Does anyone know how I can check or fix this problem?

I found a possible answer to this since I didn't give up. go to your iis installation and select server to get options go to management service. you can try to check "Remote Connections" and restart, if it doesn't help select the certificate you installed in the ssl certificates dropdown. After doing this, I was able to install the web deployment software.

With the same problem. Seems to be a problem with Web Deploy v3. I installed Web Deploy v2 with no problem. It looks like they both can coexist. Just make sure to change the path for the Web Deployment Service from C: \ Program Files \ IIS \ Microsoft Web Deploy V3 to C: \ Program Files \ IIS \ Microsoft Web Deploy V2

I also found a possible answer to this question. It looks like WebPI does not install IIS Management Service as a dependency for web deployment.

After installing IIS Management (and reinstalling Web Deploy) it started working.
