How to use material design in KitKat like in the new Google Play

I was looking for how to use Material Design in KitKat, but the only answers were that it is not supported on KitKat. How is it possible that the new Google Play Store uses material design on KitKat? Or maybe they are using some other trick to add experience-like stuff?
