Process hierarchy in Windows

As with a Unix based operating system, why is there no process hierarchy in Windows? Is there a reason for this or is it just a choice? How do windows processes work?

Sorry for the thread, but no answer. Windows has a hierarchy of processes. You can't see it from the Task Manager, but with SysInternal ProcessExplorer, you can see it all down to the kernel components. You can also get this information easily with various winapi calls.
