ArrayList.contain gives strange output

Can anyone explain this? I have an arrayList with strings. I use! Arraylist.contain to make sure I don't add duplicates. In the code below, I am displaying everything in an arraylist and then checking if the same value is not in the arraylist using!arraylist.contain

completes the statement
