How to check performance change notifications in iOS Simulator?

I know there are ways to manage the iOS simulator connection (which is actually just a basic connection to a Mac OS X system) on the internet.

I specifically want to test receiving and handling accessibility change notifications in a simulator. You can imagine doing this on a device is a little more painful.

I found that using the tool Network Link Conditioner

to cause 100% loss does not highlight anything in Action Center, although I would expect it.

Has anyone found a way to trigger a notification on the simulator?
