Excel function - convert unicode to ascii

Is there any function in Excel (2010) that decodes unicode to ascii text?

One column on my sheet contains words / sentences in Portuguese.

Example:

Esse Jean é feio né

Should become

Esse Jean é feio né

é

- This letter in text is not portuguese, is there any function to convert this to ie portuguese font format é

.

How to decode text in original format Esse Jean é feio né

in excel?

It sounds so awful that you weren't able to import the data correctly.

If you still have the original data, I suggest you import it again and use 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) .

If you don't have the original data, you can still trick Excel into importing your data again. I suggest you copy the wrong column to your own Excel file, then go to File and Export the new file to Text (Tab Delimited) . Next import (found in the DataFrom the text ), set the file type Delimited , and the beginning of the file 65001: Unicode (UTF-8) .

You should now have a new fixed-encoding Excel file. Copy the column from the new file and paste it into the old file.
