Facebook appinvite how to handle referral / promo code after user has installed new app?

With Facebook AppInvite, I want to send an invitation with an invitation code. But what I want is that if the user does not have the app installed and if he needs to download it from the play store / app store first, then after the first launch of the app, the app should be able to receive an invitation code (from a referral like? Or a deep link delay? ) ...

Can this be done using the facebook SDK? if so this is their exact tutorial / sample how to do it?
