Temporary SSL for Windows 2000 Server / IIS Classic ASP Pages?

I need to set up temporary SSL protection in my classic ASP application on a Windows 2000 server, IIS5. What do I need to do to activate SSL? I won't be able to get an official certification for a while, so I think I should make my own.

Steps? Do I need access to a router or something else, or can I do it through IIS?

Microsoft has an article in KB to explain the procedure, assuming you are starting (or can activate) certificate services. If you don't have Certificate Services, you can generate a server certificate using OpenSSL and use it as step 2 (you need to create a self-signed CA certificate first). However, you should also skip both steps 1 and 2 with OpenSSL using a self-signed certificate.
