Using PyUNO on Windows and CentOS

Can OpenOffice PyUNO be used without using the version of Python that comes with OpenOffice?

I mean, can I install a package (on Windows and CentOS) that uses the Python version that is already on the server?

I'm trying to use OpenOffice in headless mode to convert documents using a script (eventually to a CentOS host server), but my development work is done on Windows and sometimes Mac). I have nothing but a problem to get this to work.

You cannot use PyUNO with just any version of Python. You need to use the specific one integrated into your OpenOffice installation. However, the most recent OO (3.1, I believe) comes (on all platforms) with the most recent Python (2.6.2, I believe), so if you can update OpenOffice to the most recent released version on all platforms, just fine ...
