Syntax highlighting in Visual Web Developer 2008 Express ed

How do I find out which file extensions are associated with syntax highlighting? Unfortunately, it Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> File Extensions

only lists those entered manually, not the default. And I haven't been able to find it on my own through Google or other means.

My particular problem is that I want .inc to stand out exactly like .asp, but I'm not sure which editor is used for .asp. I tried the following (none worked):

  • Web Form Editor
  • VBscript editor
  • HTML editor
  • Script Editor

(They worked in a way that they colored my code in one way or another, but that was not the same as for files .asp

).

There is a security issue without .asp files. The problem is that you can view the complete code of the file if you have access to the file directly in the url.

The recommended workaround (which solves your problem as a bonus) is to create an identical .asp file and modify the .inc file containing the .asp file

Actually I cannot (possibly because of the server config). Inc files are processed exactly like .asp. Although I am aware of this security issue and for now I am just renaming the files to .asp;) Thanks Eduardo.

But my question still remains ...
