Upgrading Biztalk 2004 to Biztalk 2006 R2

I have a client running about two dozen orchestras running on Biztalk 2004 (which I wrote) that they use to exchange cXML documents (mostly sending orders) with their suppliers. It has an ASP.NET 1.1 interface. It uses a SQL adapter to store the parsed cXML. I receive and send documents over HTTPS.

My question is: Is the upgrade to Biztalk 2006 R2 straight forward as MS says? Any tips or things I should follow?

We completed a similar update last year with little effort other than importing projects into Visual Studio 2005. The updates were seamless. The biggest problem we faced was the various deployment scenarios we used. There was a bit of rewriting to work with some of the new 2006 features. We also had to adapt to the multi-host model for our applications. But in general, no problem - just more features and API changes during deployment.

Good luck.
