Are Apache httpd modules binary backward compatible between versions?

Can I (for example) use mod_proxy version 2.2.10 with unchanged 2.2.8 apache distribution under windows?

I think the Apache ABI module is stable in 2.2 versions, but I wouldn't swear at that. What happens if you try?
