UK Border Countries Database

This is not a very technical question, but it is necessary for the system I am building. I am following a database in the UK suburban / zip code. I couldn't find this anywhere and wonder if it is available (free). I know it is free to download in Australia from the Australia Post. In addition, a US Suburban / Zip Code database is required as a secondary issue.

UK-specific:

You can purchase information from Royal Mail. The database is known as PAF details here. It's ridiculously expensive and you have to pay annually. In my opinion, a complete robbery, but it is there.

Alternatively, you can use a third party distributor, but not much cheaper, but offer better APIs. We use Postcode Anywhere which has nasty strict licenses but very good APIs for implementing search in apps / websites, etc.

The Royal Mail PAf data is less than what is available, but if you are requesting samples of data from the Royal Mail, it includes a table of full locations as well as the zip code sector in which the location appears (eg "Bergholt East," in "CO6 7" ). It also includes flags to indicate if a location is required for post-sorting if the zip is unreadable.

Also, since this other post did not have lats / longs for every UK postcode, it was leaked.
