Reporting Services Error 403

I recently updated my app to 3.5 (since 2.0). The application communicates with Reporting Services (2005) remotely via a URL. This all works fine, but when deploying to a dev server (win 2003), I get a 403 error when I try to call the report server.

"You are not authorized to view this page ...

HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden

This just started after installing framework 3.5, I tried various security options but can't get this to work again.

Does anyone know what security should be set or what should I change?

Thank.

Not sure if I should answer myself or just comment, but anyway.

Found (or at least a) a solution from another post. Apparently the Reporting Services root directory might be corrupted - not clear - but I deleted the ReportServer virtual directory and recreated it using the Reporting Services Configuration Tool.

It works again, thanks for the answers.

When you say that you are calling the report server, what do you mean specifically? Log into Report Manager using this URL: www.myserver.com/reports?

The main reason is that locally you are authenticated implicitly as the user you are logged into the server with. Accessing the server remotely in a browser does not necessarily authenticate you. Do you have anonymous authentication enabled in IIS on the server? If so, you are logged in as a public anonymous / guest user and do not have access to the report server. With Anonymous Authentication disabled, you will be prompted to confirm your username / password.
